Day 1
Jodhpur Arrival
Upon your arrival at Jaipur's railway station or airport, our representative will greet you. You'll be escorted to your pre-reserved hotel for a quick refreshment. Afterwards, set out to discover the captivating city of Jodhpur. Known as Rajasthan's second-largest city, Jodhpur boasts a rich history and is famous for its iconic blue structures, originally painted to denote residence by Brahmins, India's uppermost caste.Mehrangarh Fort stands as a testament to the city's grandeur, its sprawling structure dominating a rugged ridge accessible through its eight gates. The modern part of Jodhpur lies beyond this historic fortification. Jodhpur takes pride in the unique Marwari or Malani horses, native only to this region. Conclude your day by browsing the local markets for exquisite handicrafts.
Day 2
Jodhpur Sightseeing
On Day 2, after a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we set out to explore the renowned forts and lakes of the region. Start with Jaswant Thada, a marble cenotaph erected in 1899 to honour Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. This memorial also houses unique portraits of Jodhpur's royalty.Next, visit the majestic Mehrangarh Fort. Towering 125 meters above Jodhpur, this iconic fortress is not just an architectural marvel but also a repository of history and lore. Notably, scars from cannonball strikes by Jaipur's armies are still evident on its second gate.
Your exploration doesn't end there. Proceed to Mandore, the erstwhile capital of Marwar, before Jodhpur's establishment. While now somewhat neglected, its historical significance is evident through its old fortress, an array of temples and memorials, and a museum nestled within the Mandore Gardens.
Day 3
Destination Jaisalmer (282.6 km/Approx 5 hours)
After breakfast on Day 3, embark on a journey to Jaisalmer. The scenic drive offers glimpses of Rajasthan's distinctive arid landscapes. Jaisalmer, often referred to as the Golden City, serves as an entrance to the vast Thar Desert. A testament to Rajasthan's regal legacy, the city boasts majestic havelis and fortresses. Widely recognized as the very essence of the Thar desert, Jaisalmer is a historic town brimming with architectural wonders.Day 4
Jaisalmer Sightseeing
Jaisalmer, once almost forgotten, has revived over the past 50 years to become one of Rajasthan's premier destinations. This 'Golden City' lies close to the Pakistan border, guarding India's western frontier and the Thar Desert.The city's crown jewel, the Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Qila, stands not just as a monument but as a living entity. Unlike many Indian forts, this one houses shops, hotels, and age-old havelis where families have lived for generations. The fort emerges from the desert, resembling a grand sandcastle, encapsulating the essence of desert adventure.
Surrounded by ninety-nine bastions, it's a blend of history and vibrant present-day life. After exploring, visitors can retreat to their hotel, carrying memories of a city that whispers tales of bygone eras.
